June 11, 2013 Olives & Grace: A Curtsy to the Makers
One of my co-workers wanted to stop by this store in the south end for some sriracha he had been trying to hunt down for some time. We decide to take a little field trip at lunch – glad we did. Olives and Grace is a cute little shop tucked away on a side street. You might not notice it walking by, but now that you know, make it a point to stop in.
I’m pretty sure that I love everything about this place – it’s the kind of place where you go in for one thing, and end up leaving your whole paycheck there because everything sounds so good! Specialty artisan foods, a love for packaging, and a super nice owner make this place pretty awesome. Sofi Madison hand picks all the goods in her shop. She has a great eye – seen not only in her product choices but also by her images on Pinterest and Twitter. I’m gushing about her I know, but from chatting a few minutes, you can really tell that she loves what she does and I think that is pretty rare. I managed to control myself this visit – check out what I picked up:
Dark chocolate bar with pistachios and apricots. Love the cute postcard that came with it. Cacao Prieto chocolate bars come from Brooklyn and are 100% organic. Check out their factory retail store next time you are in Red Hook.
Jojo’s Sriracha which my co-worker had told me about. Can’t wait to make a meal with this stuff! Jojo’s is made in small batches, not two are alike. Check out her story here.
And this super tasty white chocolate bar that was smooth and tasted like graham crackers. YUM! Sweeteeth comes from Charleston, SC where all the chocolate is made in small batches using traditional, handcrafted techniques.
