October 21, 2010 Cakes Bakery
I had written about Cakes bakery before (http://dgrubs.wordpress.com/2010/09/08/cakes-bakery/). I was in the neighborhood and figured I’d stop in for another try. I made a quick search of their Facebook page to see what was going on-and found out that they had been interviewed by the Phantom Gourmet-pretty cool!
I was in around 6pm on a Wednesday evening, and they didn’t have many cupcakes left. I went with two cupcakes and two brownies. Above is a vanilla cupcake-decorated appropriately for the season! ($2.10)
I also went with a salted caramel cupcake ($2.10), which they didn’t have last time. Salted caramel seems like all the rage these days, doesn’t it?
I tried two kinds of brownies, this one is a ‘decadent’ brownie ($2.20) which is a regular brownie with chocolate chips.
This brownie is called the everything bar ($2.30) which you might also know as a 7 layer bar. Graham crust on the bottom, spiced up with a little cinnamon, coconut, chocolate chips, peanut butter chips, nuts etc. At first glance, the top looks a bit dry, but when I peel it from the wax paper, the bottom left a grease stain. Overall not bad.
Can’t wait to try their lunch sometime….it looks tasty.
