November 17, 2015 Hominy Grill
On our last day in Charleston, we decided to have a real breakfast. We walked to the Hominy Grill from our hotel, which is a bit far… and the neighborhood goes a little down hill on the walk there – as in we definitely walked by a dead cat on the sidewalk. Like many of the restaurants in Charleston, Hominy Grill is located in a house and has been serving up food since 1996. The restaurant has two dining rooms inside and a lovely patio outside. The restaurant is pretty crowded on a weekday morning, we are able to get a sunny table by the window!
We start with the banana bread ($5.50), two slices to an order and it’s thrown on the grill which I absolutely love. Add on some melted butter and it is heaven.
We order the breakfast sandwich ($4.50) that came on a biscuit. The eggs were light and fluffy and I loved the biscuit!
The omelette ($10.50) is a build your own, I had mine with ham, mushrooms and cheese. It came with a side of toast and homefries. Again, the eggs were light and fluffy and it was filling, a great way to start off our day!
Service was so so, our waitress was in the weeds and wasn’t very interested in us – which was fine, we were in and out in under 30 minutes.
