May 13, 2014 Federal Donuts
Federal Donuts was right around the corner from the hotel, and while we didn’t have time to stop in to taste the chicken, we did however try the donuts. Hot and Fresh are available any time: $1.25 each, $6 for half dozen, $20 a dozen in vanilla spice, cinnamon brown sugar and strawberry lavender. Fancy donuts are $2 each of $20 for a dozen and are available until they are sold out – flavors/availability change daily.
There are a few places to sit in the store, but most people are grabbing take out. Chicken can be bought by the half (4 pieces – split breast, thigh and drumstick) for $9 orĀ a whole (7 pieces – 2 breasts, 2 thighs and 2 drumsticks) for $18. Seasonings are available in Ballpark BBQ, shabazzi or buttermilk ranch and glazes are available in chili garlic or honey ginger. All chicken meals come with a honey donut, which, from research on the web, shouldn’t be missed.
We tried the vanilla spice, the cranberry fancy and the cinnamon brown sugar. The hot and fresh donuts were delicious, there is nothing like a warm cake donut. The fancy donut was good as well, the cranberry glaze was nice and tart.
