May 12, 2014 Franklin Fountain
Franklin Fountain has been on my “must go to” list for some time now. I had heard about it years ago on some food show, and now that we were finally in Philly, how could I pass up heading over? Mind you, the day that we decided to go on this Franklin Fountain mission, it was raining BUCKETS! I’m talking sideways rain and wind, heavy rain…it was one of those days where you wonder if the small umbrella you have is even working. Franklin Fountain opened in 2004 on the first floor of a building the family owned (above it are apartments).
The interior is quaint, a few small tables and a lot of nostalgic items.
Service was quick and we grabbed a table down in the back.
Ryan and Eric Berley have antiquing in their blood, which is apparent the minute you walk into the storefront. Their mother began selling antiques out of their house when Ryan was born and Ryan later grew up to be an antiques trader.
We tried the strawberry milkshake, it was so thick you could barely drink it through the straw! Yum! A raspberry lime rickey is on the top right and bottom right is a coconut ice cream cone.
What’s your favorite ice cream treat?
