May 7, 2014 Liquid Art House
If you follow my blog, you will remember I gave you a first look at Liquid Art House. They are now open and taking reservations! Monday night we attended the LAH opening party. Their premier exhibition, “Outside In” features street artists from around the world. This exhibit will run until June 17th.
The artists included are: L7M (Sao Paulo), Tammam Azzam (Damascus), ICY and SOT (Tehran), Adrian Sonni (Buenos Aires), MOR (Brooklyn), Yazzan Halwani (Beirut), Antoine Paris (Paris), Dale May (NYC), Jennifer Merchant (NYC), John Houshmand (NYC), Fabio Fornasier (Venice), Cuba Skate (Havana), Coyote Painting Walls (Boston), Dainius Macikenas (Vilnius) and Con Art Collective (NYC).
All the work on display is for sale.
With art on every wall, every table feels special.
ICY and SOT are stencil artists from Tabriz Iran, who are currently based in Brooklyn. The two brothers have held exhibits all around the world. This piece is entitled “water pollution”.
“Hope”. Follow them on Instagram.
I think this was my favorite ICY and SOT piece, titled “The Hunger”.
You can enjoy a full dinner in the dining room or small bites at the bar. Either way, chef Rachel Klein will not disappoint you.
With all the different styles of art on display, there is something that is bound to speak to you.
This rice paper piece hanging in the window can be seen inside and outside – giving passers by a little preview of what the expect inside.
This Coyote Painting Walls piece divides the room.
There were all mediums of art on display – they are even set up for digital art (can’t wait to see that). Above are the old portrait series by ICY and SOT.
Amazing skate boards in bright colors by Lauren and Miles of Cuba Skate.
The “Compared to What” mural is the focal piece behind the bar.
The evening featured light bites. Chef Ensan Wong and Kylee Anderson were busy in the kitchen making sure everything was ready for Tuesday’s opening night.
It was a wonderful evening, there was a great turn out. So who showed up? The fabulous Janet Wu, The Good Ones co-founders Jennifer Brooke and Carolyn Kim – looking stylish as ever, stylist Erica Corsano, PR maven Diane Mantouvalos, Chris Haynes from CBH Communications, and editor and publisher of Food Service East, Susan Holaday.
The very stylish Ana Katarina Vinkler Petrovic, Liquid Art House’s curator.
Peter, a server at Liquid Art House, was killing it with his leopard pants.
Marissa and her sister, who write the blog Dangellama, were in attendance and they were both looking quite stylish.
The AMAZING Doris Yaffe, at 85 years young, told me her secret to staying young is havingĀ a great attitude! Yaffe, a publicist for non profits, is a style icon.
Adrian Sonni, was born in Buenos Aires and he currently resides in Brooklyn.
Ivan Fernandez Gonzalez, the “independent art warrior” of Coyote Painting Walls. Ivan was so personable, with a secret grin on his face, he loved having his photo taken.
Looking forward to stopping in for dinner one night soon!
