Sichuan Gourmet has a location on Beacon Street in Brookline that is our go-to Chinese food take out spot. We happened to be running an errand in Framingham so we decided to try out that location.
The interior seems a little more updated than the Brookline location. When we arrived it was pretty empty, but as we were getting our appetizers, the place really filled up quickly.
These paper place mats with the Chinese Zodiac just make me smile, makes me nostalgic about a place I used to go to as a kid.
We aren’t adventurous with our Chinese food. The guy at the Brookline location always asks us is we would like to try something different. We order very “American” choices. The pan fried raviolis are good – they come 6 to an order. 5 of them were delicious but one was over fried and hard as a rock on the outside.
The scallion pancakes were light and tasty with just enough of a scallion taste.
The General Tso’s chicken was good but the chicken as cooked a bit too long in the fryer for my taste.
My go to dish. The chicken lo mein has a light sauce and has ton’s of noodles – the are a few pieces of chicken here and there, but that’s just fine with me (I love the noodles). Overall the meal was good – the service was quick and efficient, polite but not overly friendly.
