November 13, 2013 Wedding at the Aldrich House
My co-worker (and friend) married his beautiful bride in Rhode Island at the Aldrich House – a lovely historic home. They lucked out with the weather, and had a lovely ceremony outside.
We then moved into the house for drinks and hors d’oeuvres. They had an amazing “cheese” cake and a charcuterie board.
We moved out into the tent and sat down. They couple made their own centerpieces, which I love. In addition, my friend is an avid canner and placed his home made goods on every table (every table had something different – asparagus, carrots, pickles etc). I love all of the little personal touches at this wedding.
For dinner they had a buffet with pumpkin ravioli, potatoes, summer vegetables, corn bread, salad and lobster!
They had an amazing blue grass band, the Whiskey Boys. They have a great sense of style and an amazing sound. Everyone at the wedding was having a great time. The groom’s father stood up and made a speech, the memorable line being, “finding the right person is half the battle, you also have to be the right person”, it was very touching.
As I mentioned before, my friend is an avid canner, so for the favors, it was only fitting that we all get to take home a yummy treat! Some of the options were: sriracha sauce, corn relish, chipotle mustard, maple sage mustard, honey bourbon mustard and peach jam.
While the corn relish looked amazing, I went with the peach jam.
And finally, a great little personalized touch. Instead of a ring pillow, they had dolls made in their likeness. His friend Helen made these – aren’t they amazing?! Check Helen’s work out on her website.
