October 9, 2013 Cupcake City
Cupcake City is new to the Food Truck scene. With a brick and mortar business in Reading, this cute truck is in my hood on Tuesdays for the dinner shift – because who doesn’t want to grab a cupcake for the way home after a long, hard day at the office! I have to say that I’m a little gun shy these days buying cupcakes out of a food truck. I was with a buddy of mine, and we were preparing for our big company retreat, including a fierce competition between the red and blue team, so it was only fitting that we grab a red and blue cupcake.
Team Red:
Strawberry Shortcake A vanilla cupcake filled with a fresh strawberry compote and topped with a Swiss strawberry buttercream frosting.
I have to admit I was little worried about what the frosting was going to taste like based solely on looks. I though it would be heavy and dense – but was really pleasantly surprised that it was light and delicious. The cake was super fresh and love how there’s a filling in the cake.
Team Blue:
Lemon Blueberry A lemon cupcake filled with a fresh blueberry compote and topped with a Swiss blueberry buttercream frosting. (Summer Flavor)
Can’t think of a better combination than lemon and blueberry. Really loved this cupcake, and being on team blue like yours truly, it was clearly the winner!
