October 3, 2013 Flat Patties
Flat Patties is located just steps from the Harvard Square T stop. They are a cute little place with outdoor seating in the summer time as well as a balcony up top if you want to eat in.
Their shakes are delicious, so far I’ve done coffee and strawberry and have yet to be disappointed. The shakes are creamy and are drinkable from the get do – no waiting for a hunk of ice cream to melt.
Burgers are ground daily and the fries are hand cut. They have this fountain of butter to flavor the rolls before throwing them on the grill. I order a cheeseburger with bacon and mushrooms. Pretty tasty, not heavy at all, and at around $5, the price is right!
After hearing about this from Katie, who works around the corner, we decide to go back and try the Asian salad, with napa cabbage, scallions, toasted noodles, toasted almonds, sesame and sweet soy dressing. Per Katie’s recommendation, we go with add ons. One salad gets chicken and a fried egg.
My salad gets avocado, sauteed mushrooms and a fried egg, There is something so great about this salad, and it is so simple. First, fried egg on anything makes it an instant success in my book – creamy, salty yolk, umm…yes please. the avocado is creamy and delicious, the mushrooms give this salad a little bit of body, and the crunchy noodles make the whole salad. The dressing is subtle but adds just the right hint of sweetness. So stop over and grab a meal at Flat Patties, you can’t beat the price and it doesn’t seem like you can go wrong here.
