July 25, 2013 Duxbury for the Day
Bored with nothing to do one afternoon, we decided to jump in the car and go for a drive. We ended up in Duxbury – and while it was sweltering hot, we didn’t go to the beach, we went out for lunch. We stopped at Snug Harbor Fish Company. There were a few people eating outside, but it seemed like their business is mainly take out. Most of the umbrellas outside were broken so we ate lunch with the sun beating down on us. One couple who was there actually brought their own umbrella!
Order inside at the counter and then they bring the food out to you when it’s ready. We ordered the fried shrimp ($15.50) that came with home made french fries and coleslaw. The shrimps were delicious – the batter was really light and you could really taste the flavor of the shrimps. And the fries, don’t even get me started! They are seasoned with what tasted like old bay and a few other things. It’s hard to pick what was the best part of this plate!
We also had the grilled shrimp with veggies ($15.95) that came with coleslaw and rice pilaf. Also a delicious plate, the shrimps were grilled perfectly and the veggies were still bright and crunchy.
After lunch we drove over to Farfars for ice cream.
Loved the decor inside. Best part was that there was no line!
Mint chip. The ice cream was unbelievably creamy.
Butter crunch or butter brittle, I can’t remember what the official name was. It was mostly vanilla – I wish there were more mix ins, but it was still delicious. All in all a fun day trying new places.
