July 1, 2013 Russell House Tavern
Located in Harvard Square, Russell House Tavern is a great upscale bar with a lot of tasty options. We grab a seat downstairs, the restaurant is much bigger than it looks on the outside. Service was pretty good, considering it was a packed on a Thursday night around 8.
We start with the Fiore Di Nonno Burrata, with roasted beet puree, walnut, and orange ($9). I love the different ways that burrata is prepared at restaurants. This was plated quite artistically. The burrata was really creamy and smooth. I’m not sure that I was in love with the orange, but loved the crunchiness from the walnuts and the bite from the black pepper.
We are always on the quest for a great burger, so it wasn’t even an option not to try the 8oz. Maine Family Farms ground beef patty, served on a grilled English Muffin, with sharp cheddar, bacon, and caramelized Onions ($12) and a side of sweet potato fries. The burger was hearty – a mouthful. I love burgers on English Muffins, so this one flew up to the top of my must have list. While a simple preparation of a burger, it was flavorful and delicious. I walked away satisfied. We will certainly be back for another burger soon!
