A Little Bit About a Lot of Things

A lifestyle blog with a focus on my food adventures

Shake Shack opened in Chestnut Hill in March of 2013. This cult favorite had lines around the block, people would stand outside in cold weather just to get one of these burgers. One day I decided to head over, I was going to wait in the line sooner or later, so why not sooner? The line snakes inside but there isn’t much room in the front, thus the line outside. They have a line to order food and a line just for cold items (which gives you priority in line –  you don’t have to wait long).

I knew from driving by that I was never going to get a parking space in the front along route 9, so I parked in back by Legal Sea Food, smartest move! I was the first person in line outside the restaurant, so it was about a 15 minute wait. On that particular day, the cashiers were just slow and having issues – the potential to have the line move faster was there…

You order at the front and then you wait for your food and find your own seat. I suggest bringing at least one other person with you or do take out. They have booths and half booths as well as counter seating in the back. You have to have cat like stalking abilities and ninja like reflexes to spring into a seat. It’s pretty competitive to find a seat! We were lucky enough to score a seat in the back in a booth. Total time from arriving to eating, 25 minutes.

While we were ordering they ran out of cheese sauce. You would have thought they said the world was ending…there was widespread panic…what to order if you can’t get cheesy fries! So we ordered two double shack burgers ($7.30 each) – they come with lettuce, tomato and shack sauce (read:  mayo, with some ketchup, mustard, a few spices, and pickles blended in). The burger was tasty, the meat was juicy, the bun remained intact til the end, and who doesn’t love crinkle fries ($2.70), I know right?

Concretes…dense custard blended at high speed with mix ins. They aren’t too pretty to look at right? Ice cream soup. The Shack Attack: chocolate custard, fudge sauce, chocolate truffle cookie dough, Mast Brothers Shake Shack dark chocolate chunks topped with chocolate sprinkles. Talk about overdose of chocolate right? I was a little disappointed, thought it was going to be more like a blizzard and less like a soupy mess. ($6.50)

Revere’s Tracks: vanilla custard, cheesecake blondie, peanut butter sauce and sprinkles. A little firmer than the Shack Attack, and I love me some peanut butter sauce!! Yum!
