A Little Bit About a Lot of Things

A lifestyle blog with a focus on my food adventures

We met my cousins here for lunch on the rainy Saturday before Easter. I’m sure that for dinner, this place gets really crowded because there aren’t that many dining or bar options in the area.

The restaurant had a nice bar area. Downstairs was a small dining room and they had additional seating on the second floor. We had a nice seat downstairs by the window.

We shared two appetizers. The tomato and mozzarella salad ($8) was nicely plated. It just needed a little kick, so we added some salt. Pretty decent. It went well with the excellent bread they have there-made in house and served warm!

Moving on, we also had the arancini ($8)-made with risotto and mozzarella cheese. YUM! Smooth and creamy inside and nice and light and crisp on the outside.

Not something that is normally on the menu, but I requested the combination of two of my favorite meals. Shown above is gnocchi with bolognese sauce. The pasta was good, and the sauce, while it was a meat sauce, it was more of a modern take on bolognese. Never the less, I found the dish to be tasty and proceeded to eat the whole thing.

For dessert we split this! I can’t remember what it was called, but boy was it tasty. Vanilla ice cream rolled in oreo cookie crumbs on top of a chocolate chip cookie made in a skillet. I have to say that the cookie was a little raw for my liking, but the ice cream just by itself was tasty!

The service was good-our waitress was attentive. Here’s what really did it for me: My cousins were looking for a place to get a bread bowl for a dip they were bringing to an Easter party the following day. They stopped at a place near by and couldn’t find one. The waitress told the owner/chef, Chris, and he came out and offered to make them a bread while we were eating lunch and it would be done by the time we were finished. You don’t really find that kind of service any more-and that’s what really bumped this restaurant up in my book.
