A Little Bit About a Lot of Things

A lifestyle blog with a focus on my food adventures

I had a little deja vous when I walked into Darryl’s Corner Kitchen. It didn’t even occur to me (until we got there) that I had been here years ago, with the same friend, when it used to be Bob the Chef’s. I had a ruelala coupon that was $40 towards food and non alcoholic beverages-and we decided that we would go for the Sunday jazz brunch. They have changed the place around-there is better seating and the bar in the back is kind of retro (it reminds me of the bar at this Chinese restaurant we used to go to years ago).

We got a great table, right next to the band – the Ellen O’Brien quartet had the floor that day. Ellen has an amazing voice-she was able to engage the crowd as opposed to just being background noise.

The service was attentive in the beginning and tapered off towards the end (when we went to pay the bill, our waiter was no where to be found). I had the North Carolina style pulled pork sandwich ($12) shown above. The pork was so tender and the sauce had just the right amount of sweetness to it-a really excellent meal.

Darryl’s has live entertainment Thursday through Sunday-there is a $3 cover charge per person added to the bill Thursday through Saturday from 7pm-11pm and there is a 2 hour maximum at tables during peak hours.

The food was really affordable and the entertainment was exceptional-I highly recommend stopping by.
