Legal C Bar in the Legacy Place Mall in Dedham is a mix of the Legal Sea Foods you know and love mixed with a little something new.

I went there for lunch on a weekday afternoon and it was packed. Inside, it is spacious with a balcony seating area which I love-it gives you a birds eye view of the whole place.

There’s a great bar area in the front where you can get a drink or a meal. There are mirrored panels above the bar, so ladies, if you are wearing a low cut blouse, cover up-the people in the balcony can see everything!

There are large booths, that can fit parties of 8 (or more if you squish) in the middle of the room surrounded by tables. I like to sit by the window so you can people watch.

The rolls that you know and love from Legal Sea Foods are the same, but instead of butter it comes with this great spread. Nice and light and healthy.

How can you come to Legal and not get a bowl of their clam chowder. Thick and creamy, large chunks of potatoes and lots of clams.($4.50 per cup)

My dining companion gets Legal’s signature crab cake , jumbo lump crab, mustard sauce, seasonal salad (contains nuts) ($13.95). The crab cake is excellent, if you can even call it that because there isn’t that much ‘cake’ to it-there’s just a whole lot of crab!

I get the grilled shrimp ($17.95-two sides included) with the Brussels sprouts ( caramelized cooked with bacon) and the farro salad with dried cherries and pistachios. The shrimp were grilled perfectly with a nice amount of char on them. The farro salad is served cold-I wished the cherries were a little sweeter and the pistachios a little saltier, but it was pretty good. The Brussels sprouts were tasty-as far as I’m concerned the only way one should eat them is caramelized with bacon. They had a really nice flavor to them. Overall, really good meal. The service was good, minus the fact that the glass my soda came in was super dirty. The waiter was nice and attentive, the food came quickly and was hot. The food was good, but my favorite of all the Legal’s is the classic, original Legal Sea Foods.
