How could you resist these truffles? Maybe you could when you see the $3.50 per piece price tag. As good as these were, I can’t make them a regular in my everyday life-so I resolve to have these only on special occasions. I bought a dozen of these for Easter at a friend’s house. Everyone was ooh-ing and aah-ing over them. With the exception of the sheep, all the truffle animals were filled with milk chocolate (the sheep had dark chocolate).
Located on Charles Street, right off the Boston Common, Beacon Hill Chocolates is a cute little shop you might miss if you weren’t looking for it. The focal point of the small shop is the case full of truffles. They have classic flavors, along with some that are a little unusual. I had to try a piece for myself and settled on a salted butter caramel butterfly (robust, burnt caramel is enhanced with savory salted butter in milk chocolate butterfly shell). All I can say was that it was dreamy. The caramel was so smooth and the chocolate was so rich. It was just what I pictured a $2.25 chocolate would taste like.
The shop had a variety of handmade decoupage boxes to put the chocolates in-a lovely way to present your gift. They also have chocolate bars and gelato. The staff was helpful and friendly- I would definitely go back for more chocolates. You can buy pre-made assortments or create your own box online to ship. I highly recommend stopping over for a sweet treat!
