February 7, 2010 Eagles Deli (2/2010)
So after seeing this place on the food network about a million times I decided that it was going to go on the ‘places to go’ list. We rolled in before the BC/Duke game on Saturday afternoon. I was taunting my dining companions, trying to get them to try the Godzilla burger (10-1/2lb patties with 20 slices of cheese, 20 slices of bacon and 5lbs of fries) but it was a no go. It is newly renovated, so it was actually cleaner than I expected. You order at the front and then you have to wait for a table. It was crowded, so we had to hover over other people eating and wait until they finished to steal their table. You put your number on the table and they bring your order to you. There was a good wait to get our food…and I’d like to say it was worth the wait (and the $10). I think that Eagles deli is great for the average college student looking for a quick bite, but if you’re looking for a great burger you might want to look elsewhere.
I had a burger with swiss cheese and mushrooms (that also came with lettuce and tomato). The burger was cooked medium with a nice cool red center. The mushrooms were a little rubbery but the burger in general was pretty good. The fries were crunchy and delicious with the the right amount of saltiness.
